Atacand contains candesartan cilexetil in 4mg, 8mg, 16mg and 32mg tablets. Uses To lower high blood pressure or treat heart failure. Do not use if You are allergic to candesartan; you are pregnant or breast feeding. Cautions Kidney problems or previous kidney transplant; liver problems; problems with potassium levels; narrowing of the heart valves; dehydration or volume depletion. Side Effects Most people taking Atacand do not suffer any unwanted effects. Effects that have been experienced include: headache; cold or flu-like symptoms; back pain; dizziness; stomach effects ie, stomach ache, diarrhoea; coughing; feeling tired; sore throat; swelling of the feet; bronchitis. Unwanted effects reported very rarely are: swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat; rash; hives; itching; jaundice (yellowskin and/or eyes); increased liver function tests.
